Job Description
Senior Engineering Manager, Pricing Experiences
As a Senior Engineering Manager with the Pricing Experiences team, you'll establish and grow a talented team of engineering professionals while embracing positive leadership behaviors, working through ambiguity, demonstrating strong attention to detail, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. In addition to mentoring and fostering the professional growth of team members, you will take an active part in the technical design and implementation of web and mobile application experiences. The Pricing Experiences team drives the vision, strategy, customer experience, and technical delivery of the pricing and offers systems and services throughout Best Buy's e-commerce and enterprise application portfolio. We lean into emerging tech (e.g. generative AI), exclusive content, and personalization to amplify the most important and relevant stories in consumer technology.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and guide the development of scalable experiences across BestBuy.com, the mobile app, and in-store retail systems, while remaining hands-on through coding and code reviews.
  • Cultivate an inclusive, supportive team culture where all members feel safe, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
  • Drive effective cross-functional collaboration among engineering, design, and product teams to deliver cohesive customer experiences.
  • Ensure delivery excellence by aligning teams to critical timelines, including seasonal and vendor-driven deadlines.
  • Identify skill gaps and build team capability through thoughtful hiring, training, and delegation.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibilities in application development, application delivery, software design and architecture or building web and mobile applications.
  • 3+ years of development experience using React, React Native, and Node.js.
  • 1+ year of leading teams using agile planning principles with an iterative approach for estimating, capacity planning, retrospectives, etc.
  • 1+ experience with GraphQL, Rest APIs, client and server caching strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 2+ year of experience with NextJS or similar SSR/SSG technologies.
  • Prior examples of architectural design and solutioning documentation (e.g., system design, complex data flows, sequence diagrams, UX/data mapping).
  • Demonstrated focus on performance optimizations in both front-end and back-end contexts.
  • Proven success delivering mission-critical enterprise solutions in a fast-paced environment and within challenging timelines.
  • Ability to lead team development using agile best practices and lead team ceremony meetings such as standup, planning and retro.
  • Ability to build and optimize web applications and platforms in a cloud environment with a solid understanding of system design.
  • Ability to triage and manage complex production issues in real-time.
  • Knowledge of and working experience with open-source software as well as networks, security, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and other infrastructure components.
