Chaddock is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Principal of our special education school in Carthage, Illinois. This small, therapeutic school environment serves middle and high school students, with an enrollment of 1520 students. The Principal is responsible for overseeing the trauma-informed special education program, supervising instructional staff, and ensuring high-quality educational services aligned with student needs and regulatory requirements.



Key Responsibilities Principal

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate instructional staff
  • Ensure compliance with IEPs, regulations, and accreditation standards
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive school environment
  • Collaborate with referring school districts and families
  • Manage daily operations, including staffing and scheduling
  • Monitor student progress and use data to inform decisions
  • Ensure staff training compliance and uphold agency policies

Skill Based Qualifications

  • Administrative experience preferred, but not required
  • Must hold Special Education Teacher (LBS I) licensure
  • Must hold Principal or General Administrative endorsement
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and regulatory requirements
  • Effective decision-making and crisis management abilities
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Commitment to a safe, inclusive, and professional environment
