Title: Principal, Operations, Market Presence

A senior contract leader responsible for designing, scaling, and operationalising a global Market Presence Centre of Excellence across planning, tooling, processes, and governance.

Role Overview

The Principal, Operations, Market Presence CoE is a senior contract leader responsible for establishing the operating foundation, workflows, and change management required to scale a centralised Market Presence capability.

This role designs, documents, and operationalises how the Market Presence CoE works internally and how it partners with Business Units (BUs), centres of excellence, campaign teams, and external vendors to plan and execute events across multiple tiers.

The successful candidate will bring structure, clarity, and consistency across planning, intake, execution, tooling, metrics, and financial governance, while driving adoption through practical change management, training, and communications.

Key Objectives

  • Establish clear and consistent ways of working for the Market Presence CoE and partner teams
  • Create repeatable processes, templates, and metrics across all event tiers
  • Optimise and integrate event and workflow tools (including CVENT, Wrike, and planning systems)
  • Enable scalable planning, budgeting, and vendor engagement models
  • Drive adoption through effective change management, training, and communications

Core Responsibilities Operating Model & Ways of Working

  • Develop a Market Presence CoE Team Playbook outlining roles, responsibilities, workflows, and decision rights
  • Finalise and operationalise a RACI model for event planning and execution
  • Define and document:
  • Event intake and request processes
  • How partner teams engage with the CoE
  • What partners can expect from the CoE at each event tier
  • Establish servicelevel expectations (SLAs) by event tier to ensure transparency and consistency

Process, Templates & Documentation

  • Design and deploy standardised templates to support consistent planning and execution, including:
  • Metrics and outcomes reporting templates
  • Planning deck templates for all event tiers
  • Work plans and timeline templates
  • Event brief templates
  • Budget and financial tracking templates
  • Ensure templates are practical, scalable, and consistently adopted across the CoE and partner teams

Metrics, Intake & Reporting

  • Define a common set of Market Presence metrics aligned to outcomes and business impact
  • Design and implement:
  • Event intake forms
  • Processes for data capture and reporting (e.g. Salesforce and related systems)
  • Create a communications and rollout plan to align event planners across:
  • Market Presence CoE
  • Business Units where marketing owns event execution
  • Ensure reporting is consistent, repeatable, and actionable

Tooling Optimisation & Enablement

CVENT

  • Assess current usage and maturity
  • Define best practices and required capabilities
  • Establish standards to ensure consistent and effective use across teams

Event Planning & Scheduling Tools

  • Support rollout and onboarding of newly implemented planning and calendar tools
  • Address operational issues and adoption barriers
  • Ensure coordination across leaders, rooms, and event schedules

Wrike

  • Integrate Wrike into the broader campaign and event workflow
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and governance
  • Lead rollout, training, and adoption across teams

Vendor Engagement & External Partnerships

  • Define processes for working with external vendors (e.g. sourcing, logistics, production)
  • Establish clear engagement models, expectations, and handoffs
  • Ensure vendor processes align with CoE workflows and event tiers

Financial Governance & Rate Card

  • Develop a Market Presence rate card, including:
  • Services included
  • Pricing and/or chargeback models (if applicable)
  • Create supporting materials, including:
  • Stakeholder talk tracks
  • FAQs to address common questions and objections
  • Ensure financial transparency and consistency across engagements

Planning & Partnership with Business Units

  • Define how the Market Presence CoE partners with Business Units across planning and execution
  • Establish clear alignment points between BU priorities and CoE delivery
  • Support consistent engagement and collaboration across teams

Compensation:

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $90,000 $110,000.
