Job Description
RES ASSOC II (Educational Opportunity)

Responsibilities*

  • Designing major research or technical projects. (25%)
  • Collaborating with faculty, students, and external partners to ensure the successful implementation of research activities. (25%)
  • Assist in the development of research proposals. (15%)
  • Perform and provide administrative work. (15%)
  • Provide mentoring, counseling, or advice to current Educational Opportunity Initiatives (EOI) program participants to support postsecondary retention and academic success. (20%)

Required Qualifications*

  • Current or past participant of the State of Michigan Future Faculty Fellowship (FFF) program
  • Adequate computer and writing skills
  • Must exercise a strengths-based approach in being sensitive, respectful, and understanding of the needs of a wide variety of students

Desired Qualifications*

  • Graduation from a college or university with a Master's degree in a related field; extensive work experience in research or related fields
  • Prior experience in student engagement, focusing on college motivation, confidence-building, and postsecondary success
  • Knowledge of the Educational Opportunity Initiatives (EOI) grants and funding received at the University of Michigan-Flint
  • Extensive work experience in research or related fields

Modes of Work

Hybrid
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
