Open Rank Position in Painting & Drawing Location: Notre Dame, IN Open Date: Deadline: Description: The Department of Art, Art History and Design at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track faculty position (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) in Painting & Drawing to begin fall 2027. The Department seeks an innovative artist with a broad understanding of contemporary practice in painting and drawing. Practitioners engaged with digital, installation, video, or similar expanded frameworks of painting and drawing methodology are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should be knowledgeable in contemporary technical and critical aspects of the mediums and highly committed to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to painting and drawing in a multidisciplinary curriculum. Qualified applicants must have an active exhibition record that demonstrates a trajectory of increasing recognition required of a research university. The appointed faculty member will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, teach courses, engage in academic and professional service, participate in departmental critiques and MFA theses, and work collaboratively across all three divisions of the department. The terminal degree (MFA) in studio art is required for this position. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of teaching and professional experience beyond graduate school. The Department of Art, Art History and Design has 22 full-time faculty members and is located within the College of Arts and Letters. The studio art program is one part of an exciting, trans-disciplinary creative studies department including studio artists, art historians, and visual communication and industrial designers. The new Raclin-Murphy Art Museum and the Charles B. Hayes Sculpture Park are located on campus.
