Whether you bring experience in osteoporosis care or are eager to develop expertise in this specialty, we welcome candidates who are passionate about patient education, preventive medicine, and improving long-term health outcomes.

You'll join a collaborative, well-supported orthopedic team that includes three physicians, fellow APPs, medical assistants, and dedicated scheduling support.

Position Highlights

  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a consistent MondayFriday, 8:00AM-4:30PM schedule with no weekends, no call, and no travel requirements. This position requires availability during these established hours.
  • Specialized Practice: Focus exclusively on osteoporosis and bone health within a comprehensive orthopedic program.

  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside experienced orthopedic physicians, APPs, medical assistants, and scheduling staff.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for continuing medical education (CME), specialized osteoporosis training, and participation in national osteoporosis conferences and educational programs.
  • Growth & Leadership: Help shape and expand osteoporosis services, strengthen fracture prevention initiatives, and contribute to systemwide improvements in bone health.
  • Future Flexibility: Potential for partial telework as the program evolves; this is an on-site position and will not be fully remote.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with osteoporosis and related bone health conditions, primarily adults aged 50 and older.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, consultations, and follow-up visits.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans focused on fracture prevention, medication management, and long-term bone health.
  • Educate and counsel patients on osteoporosis, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and fracture risk reduction.
  • Coordinate osteoporosis medications, including insurance verification, prior authorizations, pharmacy communication, and treatment approvals.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and clinical support staff to facilitate timely medication administration and injections.
  • Support fracture prevention and coordinated care initiatives, including participation in fracture liaison services and related care networks.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and expansion of osteoporosis services and standardized care processes.
  • Participate in educational initiatives, professional development, and opportunities to advance osteoporosis care across the health system.

This is a nonsurgical, outpatient position with no procedural or surgical responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Maryland NP or PA licensure, or eligibility for it.
  • National certification: NCCPA for Pas; Adult-Gerontology or Family NP certification for NPs
  • Nurse Practitioners must be trained and certified in Adult-Gerontology or Family Practice.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and patient education skills.
  • Willingness to perform both direct patient care and administrative responsibilities, including medication coordination and insurance authorizations.

Preferred:

  • Experience in osteoporosis, bone health, or orthopedic care preferred but not required. Training will be provided for candidates interested in developing expertise in osteoporosis management.
