Stephen Garfield Johnson was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 27, 1946, after which his family emigrated to United States in 1951 and settled in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the second of four children born to the Late Rev. Walter Johnson and Mrs. Madeleine Johnson who still resides in Pontiac. Steve graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1964 as a member of the National Honor Society. He enrolled in General Motors Institute with an Urban League scholarship graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree.

Steve worked as a Product Engineer for AC Spark Plug Division, (Now Delphi East). In 1973 he was promoted to the position of Affirmative Action Administrator for the facility and later moved to several positions in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering. In 1975, he earned an MA Degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. He later served as Technical Integration Engineer (TIE). Steve also served for three years as an Adjutant Professor of Human Relations Management for Spring Arbor College. He is currently retired as of May 1, 2006 but remains active as a volunteer for his church, the SAE A World in Motion (AWIM) and the Bloomfield Hills Mentoring program assisting a youth, Mensah Moten.

Life & Professional Aspirations:
Steve has been a member of Shield of Faith Ministries, formerly St. James Missionary Baptist Church (Bishop James Jennings Jr., Pastor) for 29 years. There he is blessed to currently serve as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, Social Outreach Ministry member, and School of Ministry enrollee. Steve currently resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where his life is shared with sons, Damon and Ramel, and a wonderful mother, Mrs. Madeleine Johnson of Pontiac, Michigan. Above all, Steve rejoices in his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and lives by the motto, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5.
