Denise Erskine-Meusa has been in the youth development arena for over ten years. As founder and president of Black Aesthetics Institute, Inc., she plays an integral role in the media arts training programs, business operations and production of film projects for this non-profit 501 C 3 youth development and film production firm.

She was a successful student leader while attending the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn. Erskine-Meusa later appeared on Howard University’s television station as the host of “Carribbeat”, a cultural and entertainment television program. Her experience also includes working as an event manager with the Washington Convention Center, and as a writer and editor with various government agencies. Her involvement in and commitment to community service propelled her into producing extensive workshops on social & business etiquette. As a consequence, Erskine-Meusa has appeared on various television broadcasts to discuss the important work of Black Aesthetics Institute.

Personally involved in civic and community development activities, Erskine-Meusa is able to communicate with vastly diverse youth populations. As a professor at Prince Georges Community College in Maryland, she teaches courses in intrapersonal communication, small group dynamics, discussion and interviewing techniques and public address. Her research focuses on leadership development and African Americans in mass media. She is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2004 Washington Tuskegee Alumni Award for her outstanding role in education and community service.

Erskine-Meusa holds a master’s of arts degree in media studies from the New School University, and a bachelor’s of arts degree in television & radio production from Brooklyn College where she received a full scholarship. She is also a graduate of New York City College of Technology and Howard University School of Communications alumna
