Q&A With Mythical Bliss

What is your sense of African American History today?
"Quintard; My sense of African American History is that we are not being taught nor are we teaching ourselves about our own culture. We are neglecting our responsibilities and the tenders of our own heritage by passing on 'knowledge' about who we are - not gleaned from rote education but from actual research on the subject - Who are we as African descendants living and therefore citizens of the United States? What have we 'truthfully' contributed to the development of this great country? I can go on for years on this subject but it does not get justice on this site - a website for African Americans at Historically Black Colleges and Universities for people pursuing and 'education' who will not take the time to join a book club directed specifically at African Americans who support African American authors. It seems like an oxymoron, really. Myth"

Interviewed by Quintard Taylor 10/03/09

How far are you willing to travel to achieve your dreams?
"T; I would travel around the world and back again (many times) to accomplish my dreams. Myth"

Interviewed by T Sims 09/29/09

What is your biggest pet peeve?
"Kayla, MY biggest 'pet peeve' is any person (politician or layman), organization or cultural habit that insists on keeping my community of peers [Black People] pre-1965 Status Quo. Myth"

Interviewed by kayla gardenhire 09/29/09

what is your classification
"Alumnus, FAMU."

Interviewed by kenya warren 09/29/09

Tell me about the last time you laughed so hard you cried.
"Chandra; The last time I laughed so hard I cried was when I saw Katt William's Just Pimpin'. He is one of the funniest commedians I have ever seen. Myth"

Interviewed by Chanda Ford 09/29/09

Good things comes when you live a Good life
"Adebola; Good life magnetize good things to one's life. I believe when GOD's spirit inhabits your environment negativity must step aside in acknowledgement of positive power. Myth""

Interviewed by Adebola Oluwafunmilayo 09/29/09

How well do you work with others? Do you find it less challenge when you work by yourself or do you beleive the more people the better?
"Latasha; I am a people person. For some 'reason' I like them. Sometimes when there are great differing of opinions - working with others can be a real challenge; however, I believe in diversity so usually I am able to accomplish the collective goal. As for working by myself, I find that it is best for me to work alone initially if the subject is truly something that I am passionate about. Inasmuch as my passions deal with 'my ideals' on what I need to do to reach a particular goal, normally I map out my goals and objectives and mark each one off until I have attained that particular aspiration. {long winded I know) Myth"

Interviewed by Latasha green 09/29/09

What would you define yourself as? Despite the jugdement of others!
"Beautiful Question Sandra. I would describe myself as a woman who is always true to herself. I believe in my individuality and respect my own opinions to 'nth degree no matter what. But, if I can give myself a compliment without being narcissistic, I have the truly GOD gifted ability to feel the same way about another's right and individuality to be who they are as well. Profound, Sandra. Truly profound. Myth"

Interviewed by Sandra Buruzie 09/29/09

What's You're Favorite Movie?
"My favorite movie was Training Day! There are no words. Myth"

Interviewed by Desiree Farara 09/29/09

I am working on Multicultural maarketing and would like to explore your website for potential sponsorship opportunities !
"Hello Raquel, I am not the holder of a website but I am the founder of HBCU Bookies as well as HBCU BOOKIES SOCIAL CLUB. I am willling to sponsor new Chapters of the Book Club in other states - especially New York. Contact me for further information. Myth"

Interviewed by Raquel Schwarz 09/27/09

How can I use my years of experience to better our society?
"Annette; With age comes experience but not all experience can be a blanket. The best way, in my opinion, to use your years of experience is to offer it when it is asked for by someone in need. Young people [18-25], though oftentimes referred to as being 'hard headed', actually are no different then we were at that age. They have the same right to learn from their mistakes and gain in 'wisdom' and knowledge as - hopefully - we have done over the years. Experience, especially ones that taught you the importance of good judgement, is earned not given away. Best To You, Myth"

Interviewed by Annette Hughes 09/24/09

What are ones goals and life.
"Happy Barely Belated Birthday, Maddie: One's goals in life should be strictly based upon the essence of who you are. It would be ideal to blatantly state the point getters such 1) my goal is to be a contributor to the community, 2) always be the best that I can be.... etc. The reality of life is that you may talk the pretty talk but rarely become effective as a citizen. Seek out what you are passionate about and perhaps one of those interest will be a community service; if so, perfecting that one thing might become an exceptional goal in your life. Good luck with your education, Maddie. Myth"

Interviewed by Maddie B 09/24/09

what is truth ?
"Solomon, how ironic and profound that you should carry such a name to tender a question such as this. Truth is reality based on a specific cultural background. What is 'true' in one man's land may not be true in another woman's land. In my learnings, faith, belief and conviction determines what is true for me. Myth"

Interviewed by solomon lema 09/24/09

What are your values?
"First and foremost I value, give daily double worship & honor to the Most High GOD; after which comes the love of my family and an extension of that love for my (BLACK) people. The value that I would love to have is the one where WE honor each other and unify for the betterment of our community. Loved the question, Charlotte."

Interviewed by Charlotte Uruejoma 09/24/09

What are your opinions to my blogs?
"Ivan, Your blogs are very well written and expressed. I believe you speak words that many should take the time to read and absorb - the latter being truer than the first. Too bad and historically too sad - WE as a People just don't get it! Myth"

Interviewed by Ivan Butcher II 09/22/09

What are your interests
"My interest is first and foremost giving Honor to the Most High GOD; after that it is the love of the written word that exalts Black people. Join my book club and find a new interests in Historically Erotic Literature. In this case erotic does not mean vulgar - but the natural relationship between an African King and his Queen. Read what HBCU Bookies will be doing for Halloween - next time it could be in your hometown! Myth "

Interviewed by Myrtis Ramsey 09/22/09

What do you like to do for fun?
"Pamela, now that's a loaded question. I'm going to narrow it into a realm that's allowed on this site! I enjoy getting away to a stretch of private beach on Exuma, preferably with my husband whom I am still madly in love with to this day, and have him reminisce with me over how we met, how we feel about each other and how much fun it is that we didn't get caught this time! Myth Myth"

Greetings Myth, Language has been my weakness throughout my education experience, I take your response as a real compliment, especially from you an avid reader. I am and have been a visual artist that has felt limited in my self expression. So, I have begun put my feelings into Words. You know the old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words, well now my approach is through my words, Picture This! You are the first to respond with some perspective. Thank you again, Ivan

Greetings Myth, Thank you for your positive feedback. Your response was well received. In fact, it was more positive than some of the harsh response I have had over the years. Not because of the design, but because of my audacity to think that I could unify black people around a common cause. Obama , today represents such an attempt. Thank you again, Ivan
