Claim To Fame:
With a full time career (that I love), a part time motivational speaking business, and a single parent with a special needs child, this year, I have been heavily involved with The Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc (www.phfkids.org) as the Georgia State Chapter Director. For 4 and 1/2 years I've been volunteering with this non-profit but my activity jumped a notch due to my son, Ezekiel (age 5) spending an entire month in the hospital, in January, due to his only treatment failing on him (a shunt). My child was near death while doctors had to revise his treatment (a shunt system) THREE times! It was because of that, that I joined the Founders of this non-profit to Washington, D.C. to be one of the main spokespersons to lobby Georgia Senators and Congressmen to become members of our Hydrocephalus Caucus. So far, Congressmen John Lewis became a member of our Caucus! With September being National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month, I created a Walk and Family Fun Day event! This event will take place Saturday, September 21st. It's purpose is to help raise hydrocephalus awareness and to help fund a cure. To date, we have 160 people registered to join us to walk and over $1,500. The goal is to have over 150 people attend and $5,000 raised. http://www.active.com/donate/phfgafunday2013
Most Memorable Moment:
Taking on fear and trying out for the Miss. NSU pageant in 1995. I have never thought to do anything like that before and I was so scared of not being "pretty" enough or "smart" enough to compete. I didn't get the crown but I WON! I looked at fear in the face and won!! There was nothing I felt like I couldn't do after that! My motto: "Do what you fear, watch that fear disappear!" I still live by that motto!
High School: Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC class of 1994

Activities & Accomplishments:
I was the Vice-President of the FBLA club, a member of SGA, part of the Drama Club, that got me a role in my high school's play, "Raisin in the Sun" and I played volleyball my Junior and Senior Year.
Best Memories:
I truly believe that my speech as the Vice-president of the FBLA started my love for speaking! I remember stepping up onto that podium, in front of all of my peers and delivering my speech as if I WAS a motivational speaker! I didn't know, at the time, that THAT moment, that, defining moment, would change my life and change my career path forever! Everyone talked about that speech for days! So many of my teachers and even my mom (who came to support me) told me how powerful my speech was. I don't remember what I said, but I just remember speaking from the heart - which is what I do now.
Experience
I currently work with Herzing University as Career Development/Community Relations Coordinator
I have 15 years of experience working in the Teaching / K-12 Education industry.
