About   (request update)
Mark Adams

Mark Adams, a worldly jazz & souljazz seasoned artist. This prominent jazz pianists third release, Something’s Going On, is a gumbo of R&B, soul and the purest jazz for the soul (SoulJazz).

Mark’s mother, Velma, introduced this native of Baltimore Maryland, to the family piano at the tender age of 5. He moved to New York at age 12 and continued to pursue his musical studies at Greenwich House Music School specializing in Classical and Jazz. Mark graduated from City College in New York receiving his B.A. in Fine Arts & Performance.
In addition to making music for the soul, Mark has been in Broadway musicals 5 Guys named Moe. Mr. Adams is also on faculty at York College (CUNY), teaching music theory, beginning and advanced piano techniques. Mark also gives free private piano instruction to young talented pianist who cannot afford to pay the high cost of private instruction. “ Development of one’s musical skills is essential to the development of Jazz, and the young people are the future and their talents must be nurtured” , Adams states with passion.
Mark has worked with some of the finest artist in the industry such as the wonderful jazz icon Roy Ayers, Ronnie Laws, Wayne Henderson, Jean Carne, Lonnie Liston Smith, Bobbi Humphrey, Jon Lucien, Tom Brown, Angela Bofil, Zachary Breaux, Mikki Howard, Lela Hathaway, Ron Carter, Hugh Masekela, Chico Freeman, Eddie Henderson, The Brooklyn Funk Essentials, Savion Glover, Dave Valentine, Noel Pointer and Tito Puente.
On the R&B scene, he has worked with Jocelyn Brown, C&C Music Factory, Hi 5, Johnny Kemp, Bell Biv Devoe, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Maysa, and Lorenzo Owens.

The Soul Jazz Experience is a precious collection of America’s rawest art form that has expanded to create new horizons in this beautiful, note genre of self-expression while preserving the seeds and roots of improvisation. This is Mark’s homage to those incredibly talented and courageous pioneers who made the blueprints for all music labeled as jazz. Add Jazz with a dash of hip-hop, a pinch of R&B and a whole lot of soul to create a sound to caress the senses and tantalize the soul….while keeping the true essence of Jazz in tact.
