Diane Kinnard Campbell, RN, DNP-PHN, FNP-BC
Associate Professor, Division of Nursing

Dr. Diane Campbell is an Associate Professor in the Master’s Program and holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with an emphasis in Public Health Nursing. In her current position, Dr. Campbell teaches courses in Advanced Nursing Research, Health Policy, Community /Public Health, Advanced Health Assessment and is Concentration Coordinator for the TSU RODP FNP program.
Dr. Campbell has instructed since 2006 and recently appointed to a tenure track position. Her primary areas of interest include HIV/AIDS, public health core competencies, primary health care and critical care nursing. Her accomplishments include recognition for her Capstone Project “Use of Public Health Core Competencies in Universities with Masters and Doctorate Community/Public Health Nursing Curriculums”. In addition, from her capstone project, The University of Tennessee developed the CAN-DO-IT workshop (Competencies in Advanced Public Health Nursing-Develop, Organize, and Instruct Together) for public health administrators and educators. She submitted a HBCU Small Grant Proposal on “Barriers to Adherence to Evidence-Based Guidelines for Diabetes Care: Implications for Reducing Health Disparities. She is a NLNAC site evaluator, and funded as a co-investigator on a grant encouraging students ages 18-24 to make healthier food choices to reduce their chances of developing obesity at TSU. She presented at Case Western Science Conference, San Diego, CA, on “Adherence to Antiretroviral Medications among the African American HIV/AIDS Population”, for which she attained the Quantitative Research Award from Tennessee State University.

Before joining the faculty at TSU, Dr. Campbell was a National Health Service Corps Scholar and Loan Repayment recipient. She practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a primary health care setting in Louisiana, the Metro Public Health Department Downtown Clinic for the Homeless in Nashville and has retail clinical practice experience.
Dr. Campbell received her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville; her Master’s in Nursing from Tennessee State University and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis.
