Dr. Franklin D. Chambers, II, a highly respected professional in higher education, serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Coppin State University. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Chambers most recently served as the Vice Provost for Student Affairs at Howard University in Washington, DC. He is a member of the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals� NASAP, and NASPA� Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, and is a member of its� HBCU Advisory Board.
Dr. Chambers has received numerous honors and awards, but is most proud of those bestowed upon him by the students he has served over the years. Some of these awards include the Phi Delta Kappa Award (1991); the Division of Student Affairs (Bowie State University) Outstanding Employee Award (1995); the Howard University College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Service Award (1999); and in 2001 and 2004, he received the Excellence Award for Outstanding Administrator from the Howard University Student Association. In 2010, he received the Outstanding Administrator Award from the Coppin State University Student Senate Association.
Dr. Chambers holds the B.A. in Political Science from California State University Northridge (CA); the M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Howard University (DC); and the Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Howard University (DC).
