Q&A With Kelby Williams

(interview me)
Kelby Williams
Location: Peterman, AL United States
Birthday: Jan 27th
Joined: Apr 6th, 2011
About   (request update)
I am the only daughter of Michael Williams Sr. (a long time employee of Gates Precast Steel company) and Lenora Williams (disabled). I grew up in Peterman, AL (a very small town), surrounded by a large and loving family (3 brothers, countless cousins, aunts, and uncles). I attended J F Shields High School, a small all-Black high school known for basketball, where I graduated Salutatorian of my class of 36 students.

Upon graduation I was accepted into Alabama A&M university on a full academic scholarship, where I major in psychology and plan to minor in public relations.

What makes me special is that although I've had hurtles in place to keep me back, I'm overcoming them all one step at a time. I could have given up when my position as salutatorian was being threatened by a crooked school system, but I fought back and got what was entitled to me, I could have given up A&M when my mom told me it was too far but I refused to, and now I'm starting my junior year next semester, and I almost called it quits when my mom fell ill, but she reminded me that I'm a fighter and that once i start something I have to finish it. I'm special because I am a Williams, and we never know when to quit. All that we know to do is to push, to fight, and to overcome.
Current Whereabouts:
The things that interest me are art, music, dance, and African American research.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
What I want most in my life is to obtain my PhD in psychology. The happiest day of my life will be when I can rightfully call myself Dr. Kelby Cimone Williams.

Claim To Fame:
My claim to fame is my attitude. I'm a very optimistic person and I believe that no situation requires a frown. I strongly believe that a person's smile is a gift to the world around them and you never really know how much a smile can change your whole mood. I am also a very caring and loving person. I don't like to be negative and I try to treat others with the respect that they deserve as human beings. I believe that the things that you do and the way that you treat others is a reflection of a person's soul, so I try to show the true nature of my soul by treating others with love and compassion.
Most Memorable Moment:
There are so many moments to be shared at Alabama A&M University, and I believe that the most memorable moment has yet to come. However, thus far, it would be meeting the men and women that I call my friends because all of us met in some crazy way on campus, and we've been close ever since.
