Lamar J. White is currently a doctoral student with an emphasis in developmental psychology at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Clark Atlanta University with honors, receiving a B.A. in psychology in 2005 and M.A. in community counseling with a minor in education in 2008.

Lamar has spent time conducting research at the University of Notre Dame where he presented at the 12th Ronald McNair Annual Research Conference in 2004. He has also had the opportunity to present at the Atlanta University Center Psychology Research Conference, and Georgia State University’s Annual Psychology Conference.

Prior to undertaking his PhD studies, Lamar worked at the Atlanta Job Corps serving as a Student Advisor where he provided guidance counseling, life skills training, career training, and promoted independent student growth in academics. He also worked as a Counseling Therapist and Youth Intervention Specialist with the Youth and Family Services of Atlanta, where he obtained individual, family, and relationship counseling experience.

Lamar has served as Program Director at Haly’s Sheltering Arms in Lithonia, GA as well as a Counseling Intern at the Inner Harbour Hospital, where he gained clinical experience by providing individual, family, group and experiential psychotherapy for adolescents, in addition to creating treatment plans for patients and acting as liaison between case workers and patient families.
His current research is focused on education reform & relationship development. He is currently a research assistant at the Capstone Institute at Howard University.
Current Whereabouts:
Conducting Educational Research to assist in closing the national achievement gap between students of African decent and their white counterparts. Providing relationship advice and education
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Future career aspirations include obtaining a professor position in academia, continue conducting psychological research, with additional aspirations of providing mental health education within community health promoting the well-being of youth and their families, and finally become a radio personality.
