About   (request update)
Nicknamed “The Diplomat”, Clinton Mitchell earned this name because of the ease with which he motivates, inspires and interacts with people from all walks of life. He is a young, dynamic motivational speaker who captures the attention of his audiences with his captivating messages, his uncanny ability to reach people no matter what stage of their lives they may be in, and the experiences he had during his rise from one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Miami, Florida to an educator, mentor and attorney. His message is both relatable and powerful for youth, young adults and people of all ages.

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Clinton is a product of the Miami-Dade County Public School system. During his formative years, Clinton often found himself in trouble for not applying himself in the classroom and for talking when he should have been working; he was more interested in being a class clown and playing sports than getting an education. However, his mindset changed when he entered Miami Carol City Senior High.

While in high school, Clinton improved his grades, lettered in both track and field and football, and received many awards and scholarships, including the prestigious Silver Knight Honorable Mention in the category of Speech. In 2002, after graduating from Miami Carol City Senior High, Clinton enrolled at Wabash College in Indiana. While there, he played college football and was recognized as an Academic All-American for his academic and athletic accomplishments. Although he enjoyed Wabash, the following year, Clinton made the decision to transfer to The Florida State University to be closer to his friends and family.

While attending Florida State, Clinton truly tapped into his ability to mentor, lead and motivate those around him. He held positions on the executive boards of both the Black Student Union and the Student Government Association and participated in a number of other clubs, and organizations. Despite his busy schedule, Clinton still found time to serve as an Orientation Leader for the University and made it his mission to ensure that new FSU students always had at least one friend. As a result of his academic success and his large impact on the campus community, Clinton was featured on the FSU website as a Student Star.

After college, Clinton decided to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer by attending Howard University School of Law. While Clinton was among the best and the brightest at Florida State, he struggled at Howard. However, despite the fact that law school was extremely difficult, he vowed to never give up. Failure was not an option. So, he did not fail. In 2009, he graduated from law school, passed the Illinois Bar Examination and began working as an Assistant State Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the second largest prosecutor’s office in the United States.

As a family man Clinton decided to return to Miami after his first year at the State’s Attorney’s Office. Upon his return, Clinton accepted a position as the Lead Teacher and Director of the Center for Legal and Public Affairs Magnet at his alma mater, Miami Carol City Senior High. During his tenure, Clinton put his heart and soul into improving, growing and revamping the program as well as making a difference in the lives of the students. From 2010-2012, the Law Magnet experienced great success and attained many milestones; the program took in the largest number of applications in its history, it was featured in both the Miami New Times and the Miami Herald and students even posted a mock trial video on YouTube. Under his leadership, the Law Magnet became one of the most talked about and admired programs in the Miami-Dade County Public School system earning him the Miami Carol City Rookie Teach of the Year Award in 2011. In the midst of being the program’s change agent, Clinton also made time to mentor and teach his students, advise and counsel youth in his church, and speak to youth and young adults in the South Florida community about a variety of issues they face as adolescents.

Clinton Mitchell is an instructor, an attorney, a mentor and a social engineer who enjoys teaching and inspiring youth and young adults to “Take the risk” and have faith in themselves. Through his words, deeds, and actions, Clinton provides both young men and young women with wisdom and insight and equips them with the tools necessary to become diplomats in their own right.
