HBCUs are Historically black colleges and universities that were made after the American Civil War. They were made to give the black community a chance to go to school. Then later it became mostly minorities. Grants came about when the Morrill Act was established. I am African American young lady who has a chance to get a degree so why not take the advantage while it was given to me. Being able to go to college is a blessing, so I attended Texas Southern University, which is a HBCU. I wanted to say I gave back to being an African American as they have given to me. Since I have been enrolled in a HBCU, I have learned a lot about history and where TSU has come from. When I am able to get into my field in the future, I can say I have great work ethic. Being at a HBCU, it can teach you how to work with your own kind and go beyond. Work ethic comes with responsibility, discipline, teamwork, integrity, and quality. Those factors will keep the company at its peak and that all starts from a solid foundation which is at a HBCU.

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
