Personal History
Charlotte G. Dailey was born in Memphis, Tennessee but grew up in Tillatoba, Mississippi. After graduating from Coffeeville High School, Charlotte enrolled in the University of Mississippi and majored in business administration. She did not complete her bachelor’s degree until 27 years later. However, a master’s of arts degree in education immediately followed her bachelor’s just two years later.
Reasons Charlotte Enrolled in the MBA Program
Charlotte has a passion for working in both business and education. Her combined degrees sparked an interest for her to gain further knowledge in the field of business administration. She believes the MBA will give her the professional and academic edge to work competently in the world of business, education or both.
Employment History
Charlotte has a vast array of business experience. She began her career with a short assignment as part of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Soon after that, she began to work fulltime as a secretary at the University of Mississippi.
Charlotte has held several support level positions, as well as some in upper management. Currently she is employed as a project coordinator in the Center for Mathematics and Science Education here at the University.
Future Employment Goals
Although Charlotte is only 12 years from State retirement age, she has an aggressive vision for her future. She plans to continue her quest to be a part of an educational shift here in the State of Mississippi. Working in the Center for Mathematics and Science Education as a project coordinator, puts her is a position for upward mobility within the educational track. The Center will soon move to the School of Education as the State’s premier STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational consortium. As Charlotte currently works with a program that aims to increase students’ state math scores by increasing teachers’ mathematical content knowledge, the possibilities are endless.
I am a results oriented professional with over 25 years of business experience. My experience varies from several support level positions to a position as chief operating officer of an insurance company.
My current and future goals are to continue my quest to be a part of an educational shift within the State of Mississippi. The position I currently hold is as project coordinator with Project PrIME (Promoting Innovation in Mathematics Education). This project provides professional development for Mathematics teachers in grades 4-8 throughout North Mississippi. Our goal is to increase the mathematical content knowledge of teachers, thereby helping to improve the MCT2 Math scores of students.
