Jenaelle Coleman was born September 14, 1989. She was reared in Silver City, Mississippi with three other cousins by their grandmother, Emma Jean Bassett. Although Jenaelle suffered from a speech impairment, Ms. Bassett ensured her that with God everything will be okay. As a result, Ms. Coleman sought God as her Savior and friend at a young age. She is a member of Bethel MB Church in Yazoo County, Mississippi.
Jenaelle is a proud 2008 graduate of Humphreys County High School located in Belzoni, Mississippi. She received her diploma while holding the title second highest GPA of her class. Among the many awards she received for academic and community service, Jenaelle was the known recipient at her high school to receive the Gate Millennium Scholarship. Prior to receiving the scholarship, Ms. Coleman had made a commitment to continue her educational journey at Mississippi Valley State Unviersity. Although she could have selected any school within the country, she became steadfast to her commit.
While at Mississippi Valley State University, Jenaelle was a Computer Science major; she was honored as the Computer Science scholar of the year in 2010. Not only did Jenaelle focus on her studies, she was well involved on her campus. She received membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc and has held various leadership positions in the Student Government Association; Mathematic, Computer and Information Science Club; Woman in Science and Technology; University Ambassador, Golden Key International Honor Society just to name a few. On May 5, 2012, Jenaelle Coleman completed her undergraduate degree holding a 3.40 GPA.
After graduation, Jenaelle battle with the decision on rather to further her education or explore the work world. Having offers in both avenues really made the decision harder than one could imagine. Reality kicked in and Jenaelle decided to embark upon another degree. She want to try something new, something challenging so she decided to major in Bioinformatic. She currently hold a 4.0 GPA in the Bioinformatic program at Mississippi Valley State University. Due to the love Jenaelle has shown for her university and HBCUs, she now serves as her campus Thurgood Marshall College Fund Student Ambassdor.
After graduation, Jenaelle has decided to pursue her doctoral degree at another HBCU. Her dream is to be a college professor to help other inspiring like she reach their ultimate goal in life.
