Dr. Linda Wilson-Jones currently serves as Director: Office of Research Initiatives (ORI) in the School of Education, Editor-in Chief for the Journal of Research Initiatives (JRI), and Chair of the Faculty Senate. Before coming to Fayetteville State University, she was a school and guidance counselor and assistant administrator for Rankin County Schools in Mississippi. She has taught under-graduate and graduate courses in teacher education and school administration and is a developer of many new and revised courses for her department. Dr. Wilson-Jones serves as dissertation advisor to over 10 candidates, hooded 23 doctoral candidates, and her research has been cited by school districts, researchers and listed in Google Scholars. She utilizes several teaching strategies to enhance the learning experience of her students. Dr. Wilson-Jones serves on numerous committees on the department, school and the university levels. She has taken the leadership role on the Reappointment, Tenure and Promotion Committee, Curriculum Committee, Faculty Evaluation, Faculty Governance, Newsletter and Journal (Editor-in-Chief), University Core Curriculum, UNC Faculty Assembly, University Program Review, FSU Foundation Board, and Advisor to Pi Lambda Theta Honor Society. She also has notable services outside the university, such as, The City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County Schools, PTA Council, United Way, Relay for Life, Women Voters' League and March of Dimes. Dr. Wilson-Jones has publications on the academic achievement of African American males, women in higher education, technology in higher education, and her current research interest is on gender, colorism, and intra-racism among women in the workforce, especially higher education. Her contributions to the African American Biography Series from Harvard University under the direction of Dr. Henry Louis Gates, continues to be her most valued publications. She researched the distinct lives of two African American Women, Louisa Jacobs and Blanche Armwood revealing their struggles and successes.

2012-2013 UNC-Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate Reelection to a second term as Faculty Senate Chair at Fayetteville State University Promotion to Professor (2012) As the Chair of the Faculty Senate, she has developed a Faculty Handbook website, revised the Faculty Handbook and is instrumental in developing policies on collegiality, collegial grievances, and the evaluations of academic deans and department chairs. Her most recent contribution to the College of Education is the launching of the Journal of Research Initiatives. This is an open-access peer-reviewed journal released Fall 2013.
