Jeffery Womble is a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and a graduate of Cape Fear High School and Fayetteville State University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in speech and communications. For nearly 22 years, he served as a reporter and editor at The Fayetteville Observer were he won awards for reporting and writing.

Mr. Womble currently works as Director of Public Relations at FSU. He has received several awards and honors during his tenure at FSU including third runner-up for Employee of the Year, FSU Campus Advisor of the Year, and the Chancellor’s Outstanding Service Award.

He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., FSU National Alumni Association, the Cumberland County Public Relations Alliance, and the National/International Cultural Heritage Committee of the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, and the 100 Black Men of the Cape Fear Region. He has also served on the advisory board of the WTVD News Channel 11, the Junior League of Fayetteville, and the Vision Center of Fayetteville.

For 16 years, Mr. Womble served on the Board of Directors and was Co-Executive Director of the Miss Fayetteville Scholarship Pageant Association, which produces the Miss Fayetteville Pageant. He currently serves as District Chairman of the Miss Black and Gold Pageant for the Association of North Carolina Alphamen. Additionally, he serves as interview coach for contestants competing in the Mr. and Miss Fayetteville State University competitions. The Mr. FSU Competition Interview Award is named in his honor.
