About   (request update)
I am currently a graduate student majoring in Computer Science at Florida A & M University. My home town is Miami, FL. My interest is to manage the design and implementation of software development. At some point I plan on being the CEO of my own software consulting firm.

Through my coursework and research projects, I have acquired an interest in software development using various programming languages. For example, I am currently participating in NASA Student Launch Initiative, where students compete by developing and designing a rocket according to NASA specification that will launch a mile apogee. Another example, in the software engineering project, as project manager : I led an entire class in re-engineering a component base specification application. The process included: planning, documenting, designing, implementing, validating, verifying, and marketing.

It is my belief that in order to achieve career success, there are five professional qualities that you should strive for. The most important quality is to maintain integrity. Other qualities such as showing respect for others, being a leader, demonstrating good verbal and written communication, and being committed to completing daily tasks are critical to progressing towards a successful career. My career goal is to acquire a leadership role in information technology that will provide me opportunities to demonstrate my creative thinking skills, work ethic, and ability to motivate others.

FAMU STEM students receive $10K Harris Corporation Endowed Scholarships TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Two students at Florida A&M University (FAMU), Teayair Harrison and Jamie Johnson, have each been awarded Harris Corporation Endowed Scholarships for the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year. Both will receive $10,000 to continue their studies at the university. For more than 20 years, the Harris Corporation has partnered with FAMU to support education programs that help produce a state workforce proficient in science, technology, engineering and math. Harrison is a sophomore mechanical engineering student from Jacksonville, Fla. with a 3.5 grade point average. She was ecstatic when the university called with the news that she was selected. “This scholarship will help me realize my ultimate goal to become an aerospace engineer,” Harrison said. “After I graduate with my bachelor’s degree I plan to attend graduate school to study aerospace engineering.” Johnson, a graduate student from Miami, Fla., is studying computer information systems with a 3.3 GPA. He credits receiving this award and his future success to demonstrating five qualities. “In order to achieve success, a person must maintain integrity, respect for others, leadership, good verbal and writing communication skills and a commitment to completing daily tasks,” Johnson said. “I am grateful that the Harris Corporation believed that I represented these qualities with enough excellence to receive this award.” After graduation, Johnson plans to acquire a leadership role in the information technology industry. “The Harris Corporation is pleased to award these scholarships to two deserving students that are excited about continuing their education in the fields of mechanical engineering and computer science,” said Jim Clamons, vice president of engineering operations at Harris’ Government Communications Systems division. “The nation needs more students to excel and graduate in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. Ms. Harrison and Mr. Johnson show great ambitions to excel in this area.” Applicants for the Harris Corporation Endowed Scholarship must be at least a college sophomore with a minimum 3.0 GPA and currently majoring in computer information systems, computer science, electrical, mechanical, computer and biomedical/informatics engineering
