I am passionate about continuing my education. Going to college is one of those great challenges that require discipline, patience and motivation to obtain degree. This can be a difficult process due to constraints of everyday distractions we endure such as being a student athlete, participating in various on campus organizations and being concerned about how you will pay next semesters tuition. However, I feel by setting my goals and staying true to those goals, I will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Huston -Tillotson University in spring of 2014. I will get the job of my dreams and I will be that business owner. I will be able to look back one day and know that when I set personal goals for myself I was able to reach them; I can then share my story with others about setting goals and following them through.

Current Whereabouts:

As a student of Huston Tillotson University I have laid out a few personal goals for myself to achieve. I have divided my goals into two categories long-term and short-term. My long term goals are to play college basketball, graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, and to get a job at a fortune 500 company. I eventually hope to become an entrepreneur and own my own business. My short term goals are to develop essential skills such as research skills, written communication skills, personal management, critical thinking, get a better understanding of education in the United States, which will help me in my future aspirations.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

While at Huston Tillotson, I received the Hereby’s Awards my first year August 2010-May 2011 which an award that honored my academic success. I am in my junior year majoring in Business Administration minor Management. I have also been an active team member on the Varsity Men’s Basketball Team for the past three years of which I am not on scholarship. I set the goal of being a college player and I worked to achieve that goal as a result I became a member of the team with no funds provided to me. It has provided some significant skills that have allowed me to reach other goals that I have set for myself while working towards my goal of graduation and starting my career. That experience with the team taught me that dedication, patience and motivation is what I need to complete all of my long and short term goals. As I prepare to close out my third year and enter into my senior year I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. In the meantime, my financial support has declined due to my mother who has become recently unemployed. She has supported me and provided for me all by herself for the last three years and with this scholarship it will help lighten some of the burden on her to continue to do so. I hope to be considered for this scholarship so that I may continue on my journey to walk the stage as a college graduate and purse my career in the world of business.
