John Marshall is an Accomplished Executive with a consistent record of leading global organizations to achieve market leadership in multiple business sectors, a successful entrepreneur with a longstanding track record of successfully developing and instituting best in class next-generation business products and capabilities in highly regulated markets. Mr. Marshall is a passionate and active advocate with measurable achievements in driving diversity and inclusion programs in today’s complex working environments. He has architected ERG’s and multiple programs for Black Employees in fortune 500’s and pioneered many mentoring, retention and talent acquisition programs including outreach to HBCU’s.
Mr. Marshall’s equally impressive professional track record, includes exceeding top and bottom line goals as a senior executive team member for multiple companies while consistently increased execution success rates and leading cultural change. In addition, Mr. Marshall is a successful entrepreneur, having successfully created two companies (The Petrochemical Standard Inc. and Genesis Strategic Partners LLC). John was the Architect of the Black Employee Network (for the McGraw-Hill Companies) and a founding member of the corporate D&I Council and is a passionate advocate for the development of a diverse pipeline of tomorrow’s leaders through national awareness and programs that support diversity and inclusion.
John joined the McGraw-Hill Companies in 1998 where he was instrumental in moving the Construction Information Market to a higher level of profitability and operational efficiency. Quickly promoted to Vice President of Product Development and Product Management, John was asked to join the Education Division in Monterey California (in 2004) to support “No-Child-Left-Behind” legislation, where he managed System and Applications groups before moving on to join the executive team with McGraw-Hill Platts (in New York) as Vice President of Global Product Development. Eventually promoted to CIO and VP of Digital Product Development, Mr. Marshall worked with the Executive team where the company doubled revenues, increased NOI and doubled staff size. He also co-authored the guidelines mandated by the G20 for PRA (Price Reporting Agencies) to self-govern.
Mr. Marshall has been published and has received multiple professional awards, including Corporate Achievement Awards (2003, 2005 & 2008), Excellence in Leadership Award (the highest corporate honor) as well as the YMCA Black Achievers award.
Prior to joining McGraw-Hill, Mr. Marshall worked for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games (Atlanta) where he oversaw CADD Operations working closely government agencies, anti-terrorism organizations, the international sports federations. Mr. Marshall was honored to run the Olympic Torch in Washington D.C.
John holds a degree in Architecture & Planning from Howard University and an MBA from Villanova University. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) and various industry specific committees.
John continues to mentor (formally and informally) men seeking to improve their quality of life and he is a youth minister of his family church.
