My name is Cerise Graham, and I am a 2013 graduate of Arabia Mountain High School (�AMHS�) located in Lithonia, GA. AMHS is the only Magnet/Theme High School in DeKalb County, and even though it has been in existence for only 4 years, it is the 14th best high school out of 440 high schools in the State of Georgia. I graduated cum laude with a 3.3 GPA, and as a Superintendent�s Scholar. I am a member of the Class of 2013, the first full graduating class of students to attend grades 9-12 at AMHS. I was a varsity cheerleader for 4 years, a member of the PTSA for 4 years, a member of FBLA, the junior class Historian, and part of the yearbook staff. I will be attending Spelman College in the Fall, 2013.
I plan to major in business. I see myself as eventually owning my own business. I also have an interest in economics. I have always been good with money, and I am interested in learning more about the stock market.
Specifically, I have a knack for style, and I could see myself starting as a stylist, moving on from there to becoming a buyer, and eventually owning my own fashion line. I hope to intern at one of the fashion magazines in New York, as well learn more about the fashion industry in general because I am very fascinated with the fashion industry. It�s been a huge part of my life since I was young. I can recall a time when I was 4 years old, the actress Hilary Duff wore a pair of jeans and boots during the winter, and I refused to wear anything else but that. I found it amazing how people can express their feelings and personality through clothing.
For me, fashion never gets old because of all the different styles you can create and design to make look of your own. Around the age of 12, I decided I wanted to be a Fashion Designer and make my own clothing line called Zhane� 2013. I begin to design my own clothes, and I learned to sew.
As the years passed and I matured, my taste in fashion changed as well as my career plans. I started a new fashion line with my best friend called Cali Monkey where we made our clothes, shoes, and hair bows. Around the same time, I begin to admire Whitney Port and her role in the fashion world. Whitney Port is a college graduate who began her fashion career by becoming a fashion contributor for a magazine. A fashion contributor seems like one of the best jobs in the fashion world because it allows you so do several things in terms of being a buyer, stylist and journalist. Ms. Port started her own clothing line after gaining experience in the fashion world. I plan to take a similar path with my career, but I would like to own a clothing store where I am the buyer, selling other designers� clothes.
I know that with an education from Spelman College, I am certain to become a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman.
