Danielle Ompad, PhD is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She completed her BS in Biology at Bowie State University and her MHS and PhD in infectious disease epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. Dr. Ompad is an epidemiologist with extensive experience in the design, conduct and analysis of community-based cross-sectional and prospective studies focusing illicit substance use, risky sexual behavior, and adult access to vaccines in urban settings. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and New York University. She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Urban Health. Most of her research has focused on New York and Baltimore. She has also worked in China, South Africa, and Ukraine. She has authored or co-authored five book chapters and more than 70 peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, Archives of Sexual Behavior, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, Journal of Urban Health, and Substance Use & Misuse.
