Joseph L. Grant Jr. was born on March 6, 1974 in Charleston, South Carolina. He is the middle child of three. He has two sisters who both live outside of Charleston. He credits both his fiscal and leadership ability to his parents who ran several businesses for over thirty years. Joseph attended Charleston County Public Schools graduating in May 1992. Joseph matriculated at Hampton University from June 1992 until May 1996 to pursue a degree in computer science. Near the end of his first year, he declared his major as Business Management to better compliment his background. Upon his graduation from Hampton University with a B.S. in Business Management, he took up an opportunity to work part-time with Unique in sales for the Charleston/Beaufort surrounding area markets while working for a national finance company. In the fall of 1996, he entered Webster University to pursue a master’s degree in Computer Resource Information Management. He felt this degree was necessary to continue to provide strategic leadership for the road ahead from a technological as well as a traditional business firm. In January 1998, when Joseph assumed the helm of Unique Supplies and Equipment Incorporated (a Georgia Corporation), Unique had primarily been known for providing janitorial supplies/equipment and foodservice supplies/equipment. Faced with a steady increase of competition in those markets, Joseph rescued the company from financial crisis by implementing a strategy of diversifying into other commodities groups. In December of 1998, he graduated with a Masters of Arts in Computer Resource Information Management from Webster University. In the fall of 1999, under Joseph’s direction; Unique Supplies & Equipment Inc was selected Supplier/Distributor of the year for the State of South Carolina. In August 2001, Joseph completed The Small Business Executive Education Program from Clark Atlanta University which was sponsored by The Small Business Administration. Joseph was selected to serve on The Strategic Source Supplier Council for Westinghouse Savannah River Company from 2003-2005. Unique under Joseph’s direction also received the designation of #29 ranked Top Small Business for the State of South Carolina per DiversityBusiness.com in 2004. From August 2008 until August 2012, Joseph served as a South Carolina Commissioner for The Corporation of National & Community Service where he participated in the Grant Review Committee. During the summer of 2009, Joseph completed Contractors College which was a cooperative effort amongst the City of Savannah, Savannah State University, The Polote Corporation and Gilbane Construction. In April 2012, Joseph became an Agency Additional Intern with State Farm Insurance Companies to prepare for agency. In August 2013, Joseph was appointed Agent in Hinesville, Georgia. He along with his team provides insurance and financial services to include: auto, fire, health, life, bank and mutual funds.

Joseph currently resides in Savannah, Georgia with his lovely wife Angela. Whenever time permits, he attempts playing golf, playing tennis, and loves to travel with Angela whenever possible.
