About   (request update)
I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the parents of Linda and Lionel Bailey. I grew up in Edgard, Louisiana where I attended and graduated from West St. John High School. I began my college years in 1993 at Southern University and A&M College of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am a proud, Spring, 1998, graduate holding a Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing. I received my Masters Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Educational Leadership.

I was an active Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and Women's Ministry participant at First Community Antioch Baptist Church. With my recent move to Grand Prairie, Texas, I am currently active at the St. John Baptist Church-Grand Prairie and volunteer with my brother, Lionel Bailey, Jr and his wife Alanna in the Chosen Youth Ministry.

My journey to this point in life has been full of very interesting moments, some easy while others were challenges; a few obstacles helped me to realize what led me to my purpose. Every job I had, from working at Ford Motor Credit to Cingular Wireless, I always found myself teaching in some capacity. Upon entering Southern University in 1993, I never saw this coming. Here I am, in 2013, having finished Southeastern Louisiana University’s graduate school program in Educational Leadership, 2010, to 2011 Teacher of the Year at Garyville/Mt. Airy Magnet School, a 2013 ECOLAB Grant recipient, and now an educator in the Texas Educational System.

The decision to get into education was never made by me. This career chose me. It is, without a doubt, my purpose and my passion. I love children, have a lot of patience, and make each day matter to children. That is something will never change. With the alarming statistics against many urban schools, I want to make a difference. I want to change children’s lives and give them a reason for succeeding. At any point in my life, I could have given up at one of the many obstacle points and stayed in industry. However, I had people in my life to motivate me. They include my father whose mathematics and speaking skills surpass many; my mother who possesses business savvy and accounting prowess; my grandmother whose wisdom far exceeds her life experiences and my brother who possesses a heart for competition. As I look back all of this helped me to get to where I am today. I love my life! I love teaching! I love children. I love making a difference!

My greatest contributions to education include being able to offer my students multiple perspectives on curriculum and life. My many life experiences, job positions, and places traveled gives me an edge needed to reach each child who enters my class and our school. With their desire to have structure, discipline, and compassion, I use my skills as a teacher and my life experiences to educate my students. I want to always continue to allow my students the opportunity to express how they want to learn.

My desire to be a successful educator has grown exponentially over the years. I want to continue to dedicate my life to educating the future and building a stronger society. My future lies in the hands of the students sitting in desks today. Being a teacher and future Educational Leader will allow me to prove to my students that no matter what your dreams are, if you remain focused, driven, and disciplined, there is no limit to where an education will take them. As Nelson Mandela states, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
