Yasmin Diallo Turk and Papa M. Diallo graduated from Huston-Tillotson University together in 2008, with their two young children in attendance. They both went on to get Masters in Global Policy from The University of Texas at Austin in 2010 and 2011. Today, Papa works in the technology sector as a fraud analyst and Yasmin is (ABD) completing her PhD in Environmental Geography at Texas State University while expecting the arrival of their third child.

Yasmin and Papa lead a project aimed at improving educational opportunities in Senegal, West Africa called HOPE for Senegal. This project is a part of the HOPE Campaign (www.hopecampaign.org) and began as a way to give back to the high school Papa attended growing up in Senegal. Since 2011, they have raised over $40,000 to build a science lab for the school's 4,000 students, a teacher resource room for the 140 teachers, provide medical supplies to the nurse, scholarships to 47 girls and bring award winning technology training experts from Nairobi for intra-African knowledge sharing. This year they are leading a social innovation competition for high school students to propose their own sustainable improvement projects with the possibility of receiving $10,000 to fund the winning project. The most important aspect of HOPE for Senegal is showing the current students the importance of giving back and engaging them in the improvement of their school community.
