I graduated from Virginia State University In may of 2013, with a Bachelors degree in Communications, and I am currently enrolled in Virginia States Graduate Program. My experience at state has been an eye opening, life altering roller coaster. Trying to balance class with social life, responsibilities, athletics, and networking with not only students but teachers and outside contacts. I came into a college with a one track mindset of what i was going to do and it did not work out as planned. Life has a way of challenging you with unexpected curve balls and if you do not weather the storm it could hinder you from what you are destined to accomplish. Ill advised decisions, distractions, and cancer diagnosis sidelined my college experience for two years. It gave me a sense of urgency that life is too short and if you want something go for it. I have since jumped on every opportunity that has came my way and refuse to pass up on anything. One of which was an opportunity to intern at BLIS.FM/STUDIO 202. I was very intrigued with Studio 202 being an aspiring artist. I felt like Studio 202 integrated all facets in the Communications field, along with being a relatively new enterprise the opportunity for future growth was another plus. I have met a plethora of clutch contacts in the communications field, learned key skills that makes me marketable in television and radio, and I am more confident with my abilities. I want to personally thank my program director at WVST Jennifer Williamson. I believe that every college student comes across that one professor who taps into their potential and challenges them to not be mediocre,to think outside the box, and Ms. Williamson is that one for me. I am now working as an On Air Personality for her at our college radio station along with working as a production assistant for BLIS.FM and a PR Business Consultant with TRU DIVA PRODUCTIONS LLC.
