About   (request update)
What started as a young man, I would use disposable cameras I received from my sister every week snapping photos of my friends, family and neighbors later displaying them in albums.

That same hobby, later lead me to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications from North Carolina Central University in 2005.

Shortly after graduation, I was selected as 1 of 4 photographers in the nation for the New York Times Student Journalism Institute where we produced a print & online newspaper; sharpening my writing, editing and photography skills.

That New York Times fellowship led to a full-time job where I became the first African-American staff photographer at The Gainesville Sun newspaper, under the New York Times Regional Media Group.

Since then I've covered some of the biggest stories in North Central Florida--including University of Florida football player Tim Tebow's wins and outreach ministry, First Lady Michelle Obama's campaign stops for her husband, now President Barack Obama and Pastor Terry Jones' burning of the Quran demonstration which garnered international headlines.

While on assignment to the White House in 2007, I snapped a photo of President George W. Bush doing the "Gator Chomp," catching the attention of University of Florida fans worldwide. In the same year, I was selected to return to the New York Times Student Journalism Institute as an instructor/photography editor sharing my story and mentoring students who were following in my same footsteps.

My catalogue includes photos of the "Dr. Death" Jack Kevorkian, hip-hop stars Kanye West, Lil' Wayne & Drake, R & B artist John Legend, actor Boris Kudjoe and American Idol contestant, Daughtry.

I've been blessed to have been published in Sports Illustrated, Ebony Magazine, The New York Times, Gainesville Magazine, Gainesville Sun, Undersea Journal, HOME Magazine, Women's Day Magazine publications for both Santa Fe College and the University of Florida and to have my work distributed nationally.

I am a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and currently I run Aaron Daye Photography, digital branding firm Gorillaz Ink | Gorillaz Ink Promotions & Marketing and also Social Media Strategist for GrubStubs, a dining network that allows people to sign up for social meal events at local restaurants.
