(interview me)
Monique Lewis
Administrative Assistant, Rust College

Location: Holly Springs, MS

About   (request update)
My name is Monique Channel McKoy-Lewis. I am class of 2017 graduating Senior attending Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. I am also an employee at Rust College and sincerely appreciate the relationships I have developed with my co-workers and the students. I bring my children to the college as often as I can and at their early age, they have become part of the college community.

Educational background: I have attended college many times in my life; however, I have not completed a degree. Since working at Rust College, I have been given the opportunity to complete my degree in Business Administration (with a strong concentration in writing). I am hoping to graduate Summa Cum Laude.

Professional background: I started my professional career with a summer job earning $2.90/hr as a secretary for the Provost Marshall’s office in 1988. Since then I have had a variety of jobs in retail, restaurant, hospital, and insurance settings. My longest job was at Zurich Insurance (11 years) in which I was a Business Analyst before being laid off in 2009. After being unemployed for 1 year, I began working at Rust College as the Secretary for the Division of Business. I currently hold the position of Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Personal Information: I was born in The Bronx, NY, but as I am a military brat, I have moved all around, spending 9 years of my childhood in Germany & Italy. I graduated high school in Vicenza, Italy. After my father's retirement, the family settled down in Maryland. My husband and I moved to Byhalia, MS in 2006. We have two young children, Mariah & Michael “Ducky”. I have a brother who is a Mathematics professor living in Baltimore MD with his family, and a sister, who has a Masters in Mathematical Engineering, who lives in Virginia with her family. My personal goals are to be an example of dedication and perseverance to my children, a role model at Rust College and in the community, and to have a few of my writings published professionally.

Volunteer/Community Activities:
• 2010 & 2011 Fundraiser for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure: 2010 recognized as Top 100 Fundraiser.
• Member of Mississippi Association of Educational Office Professionals, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
