About   (request update)
Mary “The Scholarship Lady” Sias is owner of Scholarship Prep 101. Since 2002, she has been hosting or guest speaking to both small and large audiences on funding college. She is a past panelist with the Linda Lorelle College Conference and the Hispanic Forum College Day. Over time, she realized that scholarships were available for kids as young as six years old and added that information to her workshops. Scholarship Prep 101 the book will be out in 2015. It will be the guide that every parent should be armed with to help save for college through scholarships starting from age six.

She enjoys mentoring youth and helping them pave the road for a successful future. In 2000, she was named a Junior Achievement Consultant of the Year at Worthing where she taught students success skills and how to run a company by operating a business as entrepreneurs. These programs helped the graduating seniors to earn over $150,000 in scholarships from 2000 to 2003 and received offers of $271,000 for her son when he graduated in 2003. She is a 20 year plus member of the Knights of Peter Claver #138 Scholarship Committee.

She was awarded the National Silver Medal from the Knights of Peter Claver for 30+ years of dedicated service to the organization, church and community in July 2010. She was recognized for volunteer service in 2012 with the City of Houston Mayor’s Volunteer Award. She was inducted into the 2013 Who’s Who in Black Houston 7th Edition Book. She is an active member of the Southeast Coalition, a community civic organization and actively participates with the Dress a Girl Around the World program where she makes dresses out of pillow cases that are shipped around the world, but mainly to Africa.
