A millennial that found inspiration in community development, youth engagement, and politics, Dana Hall has chosen to walk in her purpose by representing and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
As a native of Landover, Maryland and resident of Washington D.C., Dana is deeply committed to the community. Currently, she serves as the co-director of the Eternal Life Project, program coordinator of Manpower DC, mentor for The Society for Girls, and the founder of “Word of Mouth”, a community newsletter. She is also the founder and CEO of Aya, an organization that works with college students and high school students to equip them with professional development, leadership and entrepreneurship skills through mentorship as they begin their careers. She leads the charge to improve the conditions of low income and minority populations in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area through the coordination of service projects and community events. Alongside elected officials, she has organized community meetings, back to school events and the DC Cares for Relisha Rudd campaign. Her other volunteer efforts have included increasing voter registration and expanding quality educational options for children.
Dana works at the Aspen Institute under the direction of the Vice President of Pubic Programs to coordinate seminars and events that are related to public affairs and today’s most pressing political issues. Her experience builds upon a wealth of knowledge received while she served as the External Operations Program Associate of the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools ® Initiative. At the Children’s Defense Fund, Dana managed all national and regional trainings which prepared nearly 2,000 college students to serve as literacy advocates and teachers in their communities. Dana engaged congressional thought leaders, civic, faith-based, academic, corporate and other stakeholders in the community as a means to fortify a policy agenda that will both dismantle the cradle to prison pipeline and generate robust educational opportunities for all young people in our nation.
Dana is a 2011 alumna of Howard University and the 2015 WeLead Leadership Training Program at American University. She has been awarded and recognized by Ubiquity, Incorporation for her tireless efforts and commitment to restorative social justice.
Was recently hired by The Aspen Institute to coordinate the logistics for a host of public programs throughout the country.
