Zuri Valencia Stackhouse is a 2010 graduate of South Carolina State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Consumer Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Quartermaster Corps. After graduation, she attended the Army’s Logistics Officer School at Fort Lee, Virginia. After Completing the Logistics School, she was assigned to the First Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas where she served as Logistics Platoon leaders both in Garrison and during a combat deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn. Upon completion of her combat tour and returning to Fort Riley, Zuri was reassigned to Fort Rucker, Alabama where she served as Company Executive Offer and was promoted to Captain. At the end of her four year military service obligation, Zuri elected to resign her commission and return to civilian life to pursue a career in Logistics Management. While at South Carolina State, Zuri was very active on campus participating numerous student and social organizations including the Marching 101 Color Guard, the Bulldog Battalion Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program, the Honors Program, Kappa Omicron Nu National Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Additionally, Zuri held the title of Miss South Carolina State University 2009-2010 representing the students and alumni of her illustrious university. Zuri is the daughter of LTC (R) Heyward and Millicent Stackhouse; both graduates of South Carolina State University and she has one sister (Zoel) a sophomore at Clemson University.
