Chevella L. Thomas resides in Durham, NC. A three-time graduate of North Carolina Central University; receiving a BBA in Management May 1983, BBA in Accounting May 2004, and a MIS in Network Administration in May 2006. Currently serves as the Treasurer of the North Carolina Central University Alumni Association, Inc. (NCCUAA). Chevella is life member of the Durham Chapter and the NCCUAA. She has served as Treasurer of the Eta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Treasurer of the State Employees Association of North Carolina (SEANC) Scholarship Foundation Board, current SEANC District 27 Treasurer, and former Finance Chairman of the West Durham Baptist Church Finance Ministry, and Senior Usher Board; Also served as President of the UNC Financial Systems Conference Board; and, Treasurer of the Last Shift Bowling League and Assistant Treasurer/Secretary for the TNBA Bull City Bowling League. I am a Board member of the NCCU Eagle’s Club, where she is a member of the finance committee and the marketing committee. She is a member of the Triangle Putter Golf Club, and a proud supporter of NCCU.
Chevella has been employed at North Carolina Central University since November 1984; where she is an Accountant in the Administration and Finance Division within the Comptroller’s Department. Her major duties are managing the University’s Capital Assets Department, reconciling the Perkins/Nursing Student Loan Funds, the State Disbursement Fund, and the Payroll Cleared Checks reconciliation; and writing Web Focus reports as needed. Communicating with Internal Auditors, State Auditors, and General Administration during the year-end period.
Some of the hobbies she enjoys are bowling, golf, reading, and attending sporting activities.
NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University alum Chevella L. Thomas was selected as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Campus Playmaker of the Month.
The MEAC Campus Playmaker recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to their campus. She is the first recipient of the annual award.
“I would like to congratulate Ms. Chevella L. Thomas for her service and dedication,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. “She has made a significant impact on the lives of many at North Carolina Central, including the student-athletes, alumni and employees of the University.”
A native of Roxboro, N.C., Thomas has been an active advocate for alums through the alumni association. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management in 1983 and in Accounting in 2004. Thomas completed a Masters of Information Science (MIS) in Network Communication in 2006. She has held multiple positions at her alma mater, including Accountant in the Administration and Finance Division since November 1984, and currently serves as a board member for the NCCU Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc., and as the National Treasurer of the NCCU Alumni Association, Inc.
Thomas also served as the Treasurer of both the Eta Beta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and of the State Employees Association of North Carolina Scholarship Foundation Board.
Never far from the Eagle community, Thomas’ impact is visible to the student-athletes, alumni and employees at NCCU as she continues to serve as a board member on the finance and marketing committees of the NCCU Eagle Club.
