Tihisha Rawlins is the Associate State Director of Grassroots Initiatives for AARP where she is responsible for community involvement in state and national affairs. Tihisha’s particular area of interest and expertise are in Medicare and health care reform. She joined the AARP family in 2005 after having worked for Kentucky State Government for seven years.

Mrs. Rawlins has served on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association for Gerontology since 2006 and continues to serve on that board today. Her commitment to seniors was recognized in 2010 when she was appointed to the Institute for Aging by Governor Steve Beshear and reappointed in 2012. Governor Beshear also appointed her to the Health Benefit Exchange Board in conjunction with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.

Tihisha has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Public Administration both from Kentucky State University and is a Certified Public Manager.

Mrs. Rawlins works with various church auxiliaries, volunteers at both of her children’s schools and is active with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tihisha is married to Troy and has two children, TJ and Talia.
