Undergrad Major: Finance
Claim To Fame:
-At the community college I recently graduated from I was a project leader for our campus's Business organization. Every year we compete against other colleges and universities across the country by present the projects we came up with over the course of the academic year. -Serving on the presentation team last year, I was selected again to act as the veteran of the group. Due to a change in the date of the competition our team was forced to come up with this speech in under three month. I co lead our team to a successful presentation where we placed among the top 60 teams in the nation. With over 300 teams in attendance this was a huge feet for our young chapter at RVCC.
Most Memorable Moment:
One of the projects that we developed was a plan for a garden that was going to benefit a local food pantry. Working hand in hand with the people of the pantry we designed and built a garden during the spring of 2013 that grew over 750 pounds of produce that following summer. F.L.I.P. The Financial Literacy Improvement Program is currently the largest student run program on campus. The program consists of various financial topics such as financial aid, debt and credit management, introduction to taxes and basic investing. This year our program grossed over 550 attendants between 6 seminars throughout the academic year. • Served as project leader, responsibilities include: designing promotional materials, room reservation, contacting guest speakers, designing sign in sheets, working with team to designing pre and post surveys, and even ushering students to their seats. • I also saw an opportunity to expand our attendance by creating a reminder card. We found a lot of students came to the first seminar and the attendance dwindled in the last two seminars. I designed the cards as an incentive for students to attend all three. The reminder cards were a success and will be used as a staple in the program in the fall of 2014. Let’s Can Hunger- Every year our Enactus team participates in an annual food drive where we collect non-perishable goods. • I was asked to serve as project leader when the original lead was unable to complete the task. Together our team raised over 3500 pounds of non-perishable goods as well as $1,500 in cash donations. This transition was a perfect example of how I was able to adjust to help out our organization. It also displays my ability to take on new responsibilities and thrive with them.
