About   (request update)

As a sophomore at Spelman College, my vision to become a Chemical Engineer began at a very early age. When I explored my family genetics, I discovered an interest for medicine. My background includes the Native American, Cuban, and African American History. All of these ethnic groups carry a strong belief in herbal and holistic medicine for healing. Therefore, it is in my DNA to provide avenues of healing to assist others in maintaining stable health and having the ability to live in an improving society. I believe there is a cure for various infectious diseases with the assistance of drugs and vaccines and as a visionary I plan be a part of that discovery.
After completing my three years in the Chemistry program at Spelman College, I plan to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology to specialize in Chemical Engineering. As I matriculate through my years at Georgia Tech, I will look forward to gaining more expertise and being able to use the principles of chemistry and basic engineering sciences to solve problem related to the production of chemicals and their use in industries. While attending graduate school, my focus is to receive my Marketing degree. With my degree in Marketing, I plan to utilize this knowledge to assist me in providing global based marketing strategies for healthcare solutions.
Based on my above collegiate and career plans, I will be provided the opportunity to receive an advance insight into my relentless pursuit of the Chemical Engineering profession. In addition to that, I will gain a wealth of knowledge in Chemistry Research, which I find extremely interesting due to my love for understanding the how and why life is life and when and where it all began. In addition, this will provide me hands-on experience and opportunities to explore the field of Chemistry within a nurturing learning environment. This is important to me because as I took part in research in high school such as Spelman College’s Howard Hughes Program for High school students focusing on Cancer treatment and multiple years of Science fair research topics such as bone fractures in children and brain fractures while using mice brain cells, I began to see how research impacts the advancement of society. As a current Spelman College Chemistry/ Dual Degree Engineering Major; I would be able to gain additional skills to improve, develop and cultivate my current research skills in multiple areas.
Modern life is dependent on engineering. It is everywhere and it is always changing, which attracts me to Chemical Engineering. I will combine my knowledge and skills in chemistry and math to shape the world around me. Anticipating a challenging career, I expect it to be very rewarding by being provided the opportunity to see projects come to fruition.
