About   (request update)
From my perspective, what makes me special is my ability to offer diversity to any institution. My experiences with traveling exemplify diversity. Since the summer of my 9th grade year, I've had the opportunity to travel to three continents. I’ve traveled to Europe, Asia, and Africa. I traveled to Paris, France, Schorndorf, Germany, Ghana, Africa and Narashino, Japan. During these trips, I’ve met the mayors, governors, students, and visited many historical sites. Also, I had the opportunity to stay with families from each culture, except Ghana. The interaction with the students gives you a chance to understand their interests and perspectives-- which forms into new friendships. The question is how can the interaction with students from other cultures illustrate diversity? Traveling abroad offers diversity within the interaction with other cultures because it allows you to interact with people that have different perspectives, interests, and ethnicities. Since my first trip, I've learned that communication is the key to life. Without communication, society will lack the ideas, beliefs, and information needed in order to move society in a positive direction. Thus, traveling has offered many opportunities; in which, I can enhance my communicative skills and become more sociable. The skills developed from these interactions, with the families and students, can be used during college. In college, there are people with different ethnicities and beliefs and communication allows you to express your experiences and beliefs amongst those students. Communication makes you a better person and allows you to make new friends. Overall, traveling has taught me that communication is important in society and it is needed in bringing diversity to college by meeting new people and enhancing social skills.
How can I explain my imperfections enough to exemplify how I can offer diversity? First, I have to acknowledge my imperfections; in which, I struggle with procrastination and being a perfectionist. Also, the constant thoughts of being good enough to do the unthinkable or moreover leave Tuscaloosa run throughout my mind. Constantly, I strive to do my best in school, my community, and in my church to be recognized for the things I’ve done. I often procrastinate because I value the outcome of certain things. Therefore, if I need to strive for perfection, I will do so. My future is valuable to me and I constantly try to perfect everything I do, so I can pursue my dreams. Honestly, I believe my imperfections molds my future because of my push for success.
