Jamille Hunter was given the nickname “JAM” as a child and as she continued to explore musical ability, the moniker stuck. A self-described “neo-jazz” singer, Jam is poised to emerge on the increasingly volcanic contemporary jazz scene. She cites as her influences: Dianne Reeves, Sarah Vaughan, Earth Wind and Fire, Nancy Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper.

With years of gigging in the R&B/Soul arena under her belt, and previous classical training JAM began to train intensively as a jazz vocalist in Los Angeles, CA at the World Stage of Leimert Park. Seeking an international experience she left Los Angeles and hit the stage in Nagoya, Japan where she honed her craft as the lead vocalist at the world-famous Stardust Jazz Club.

Jam has recently released two new singles with her band Mood Swing. Not only is Jam a vocalist of multiple genres, she is also a songwriter and producer. In addition, she owns the publishing company that publishes her music- I AM JAM MUSIC PUBLISHING. This is her sophomore project. Her first CD IN THE SUN was released in 2012 and was played on multiple radio station nationwide including the vast markets of Chicago, Las Vegas and San Antonio. Last fall she began work on her first full-length CD, a tribute to the jazz great Sarah Vaughan, which she recorded live. She hopes to release this project by Fall 2015. In the meantime she is working at promoting her two singles- "Blue Moon" and "You Got Me", already being played on several Jazz and R&B stations. Attending TSU was the best decision I've ever made. The memories are still being made- every year at Homecoming!!
