Brian J. Cousin was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. He obtained a BSW from the Ethelyn R. Strong School of Social Work at Norfolk State University and earned his MSW from Rutgers University’s School of Social Work.

As a student at NSU, Brian participated in an internship at the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority where he assisted in case management and supportive services for clients in the Family Self-Sufficiency program. As an advance-standing student at Rutgers University, Brian completed an internship at the Hoboken University Medical Center - Community Mental
Health Clinic where he worked alongside two special programs, Project Impact and the Clubhouse After-School Program. Both programs provide services to youth and adolescents who reside in Hudson County. Brian also earned a certificate through the Center on Violence Against Women and Children and is also a New Jersey State Certified School Social Worker. Brian previously worked as a Youth Justice Social Worker at the Brownsville Community Justice Center, a community based project of the Center for Court Innovation, where he provides services to justice involved youth and their families in Brooklyn. He recently joined the Rutgers - New Brunswick department of Residence Life as a Residence Life Coordinator.

Additionally, Brian has experience working within the Office of Residence Life and Housing at Norfolk State University and community organizing, most recently serving as a campaign strategist for former Newark’s West Ward Councilman candidate Rashawn Davis. Brian continues to dedicate his life and work to issues revolving around social justice and activism, education and the effort to combat homelessness for youth and adolescents.
