Danyelle R. Carter, a long time girl-power enthusiast and advocate is a senior at Spelman College majoring in Comparative Women's Studies. At Spelman she serves as the United Nations Foundation's Girl-Up Initiative campus leader and is a Toni Cade Bambara Scholar in the Women's Research and Resource Center. Prior to Spelman, Carter graduated summa cum laude from Miami Dade College with a joint Associate of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Journalism.

In 2015, Carter was named the National HBCU Female Student of the Year by HBCU Digest and became the first woman to be ranked no.1 on HBCU Buzz's Top 30 under 30 list. A three-time recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, Carter received a congratulatory certificate from President Barack Obama and congratulatory letter from Congress for more than 5,000 hours of community service. In January 2016, Carter served as a legislative and press fellow in the office of Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) and Public Policy and Press/Communications intern prior to being hired as the Press Assistant to U.S. Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09). Her accomplishments on Capitol Hill include: helping to launch the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls and the Congressional Caucus on Multicultural Media and the first Multicultural Media Correspondents Dinner.

Carter is founder of Black Girls in Government, a nonpartisan initiative created to educate Black girls on Black women in government, politics and advocacy. She is committed to honoring Black women by researching, archiving and disseminating information about their lives and work and empowering Black girls to lead.

A lover of communications and activist for women, Carter is the owner of Her Communications Agency is a social impact firm for women and girls shaping the world for a better democracy. We work with inspiring individuals and organizations to magnify their causes and issues through a suite of communications, public relations and social media services.
She is a member of Lamba Pi Eta Communication Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, Iota Iota Iota National Women's Studies Honors Society, Congressional Black Associates, African-American Women on the Hill Network, Women's Congressional Staff Association, Capitol Hill Press Club and the Black Public Relations Society.
