Prior to attending Spelman College, as an inner city teen from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, I have witnessed that my surrounding peers had a lack of drive for secondary educational and/or international opportunities, because both were always presumed to be too far out of our reach. I do not plan on becoming an accumulation to the typical statistics of black urban natives. My Spelman College education is extremely important to me, because it means that I have a chance to remove myself from this detrimental environment, as well as inspire others to have these same experiences. Spelman furnishes me with the chance to make my parents� sacrifices to be superior to their life experiences, worthwhile. I now have new goals that are so high, peers are telling me they are not achievable. I have witness my aspirations become reality in my life and I am going to continue that pattern through sacrifice and dedication.

Current Whereabouts:

I am currently interested in International Arts, the fashion industry, International relations, Environmental sustainability, Women's rights, and gender equality.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

My life and professional aspirations are to have my own fashion blog, get an internship with a fashion magazine and/or entertainment business. Post graduation I hope to work for a company such as BET as a creative director for movies, music videos, and/or magazine shoots.

Most Memorable Moment:

My most memorable College moments were both when I was given my official Morehouse Brother and when I was a participant in the Miss Black and Gold Pageant for the Morehouse provided me the opportunity to build relationships with men of Morehouse College, network, and appreciate what they have to offer as college students. I enjoy seeing a positive representation of black men, unfortunately that is something that is not broadcasted very often. Also the pageant helped me step out of my comfort zone, and build relationships with Spelman sisters, whom I had never had a relationship with prior.

Best Memories:

My best high school memories were the connections I made with the students, parents, and alumni from my school when we were told that our school would be closing along with other catholic schools under the Philadelphia Archdiocese. When were heard the terrible news my school community came together, protested, and raise a million dollars in donations to keep our school open. That was extremely important to be not only because I love my high school, but because as a junior, I was heart broken to think that the only high school I've ever known was not going to be the one that I receive my diploma from.
