Best Memories:
My best high school memory would be the first time I walked onto campus. I heard so many rumors about what high school was like, I was practically buzzing with excitement. My friend took the bus with me that day and was already wondering what she would have to do to hang out with the popular kids. I was expecting a load of homework and so many amazing and creative students flooding the halls. It was an exaggeration, I admit. The part where I woke up and faced reality was my favorite part. Reality was so much better because my mind didn't just flip a switch and suddenly became a high schooler. I learned how to. I met people who ordinarily I would have thought were strange, people low self esteem, people with overconfidence, people who were touchy and people who mostly kept to themselves. The T.V. shows and movies are misleading. High school is this big melting pot of personalities that test your character and help you figure out who you are. My favorite high school memory is when I received my first lesson in real high school. I learned to get along with multiple groups of people- multiple ethnic groups, Preps, Athletes, you name it and I made sure I got to hear a little bit of what they were like. Knowing someone's story is everything, like you're seeing the heart of the person. I believe that's a beautiful thing. That's why I remember my first day attempting to do so as fondly as I do.
