Q&A With Eric Conley

(interview me)

About   (request update)
I believe we are all special, and somehow all the same, which means that nothing I can say here, I believe, would put me on a higher level than anyone else.
Current Whereabouts:
I am very interested in the oceans and particular the deep oceans. We know little about our own oceans and the idea of exploring them excites me like nothing else ever has.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I am a freshman with a career plan in mind already. I plan on mastering in Geology and then getting my doctoral in physical oceanography and becoming, you guessed it, a physical oceanographer possibly working for the NOAA. However, the money does not concern me, as long as I can get underneath the surface of the ocean and discover new things as quickly as possible, then it is a successful career, a successful life.
Education   (request update)
Southern IL Univ at Carbondale class of 2019
Undergrad Major: Geology
Claim To Fame:
I managed to obtain a 4.0 GPA my first semester of college while holding a part time job.
Most Memorable Moment:
My most memorable moment of college was getting here, everything was so much different, it looked so beautiful, and I felt like I could walk around without being afraid. Even though it was, and still is a frightening experience, this is an entirely different type of fear that stems from novelty and not terror.
High School: John Marshall Metropolitan in Chicago, IL class of 2015

Activities & Accomplishments:
Track and Field 2014-2015; Horticultural Sciences, 4H/FFA member; Attended National FFA convention; A-B honor roll 2013-14; A Honor Roll & Principal Scholars 2014-2015
Best Memories:
My best memories were when I got involved in activities and went on Horticulture field-trips, joined the track team, and accepted my $3000 scholarship at my graduation (It was very unexpected!) On the field-trips, I got to experience life outside of the inner-city of Chicago and it seemed highly surreal and almost faked to me because of what I've known my entire life. Attending the National FFA Convention is something that I will never forget. I also have my experience at making my own money, as for a horticultural project that encompassed more Illinois agricultural programs, I sold honey that was extracted from our school's own bee hives. I had to manage the money and do inventory. Joining the track team imparted upon me the importance of teamwork, and individual work. You were apart of a team, but when you were competing, your personal ability was in the spotlight. I created lasting connections with the coaches and team members.
Experience
