About   (request update)
Ever since I can remember, I have been one to do my own thing and often walk the opposite way of the crowd. Initially, I did not understand more than the crowd. So, when they would ask why I was so different I could not respond exactly why. It was my Sunday school teacher who often told me that everyone was made different, so I chalked it up to mean that I was less of an outcast and more of a trendsetter. My father instilled the importance of following instructions in me at a young age so that I would not struggle with following orders like many of my peers did. As a military man, my dad, did not have to do much in the way of physically disciplining us because his words were powerful enough to make you reevaluate yourself. They say a great leader is an even better follower of not simply anyone, but a follower of those who lead. Therefore, I took important examples and lessons from the great frontrunners that came before me. I feel that this has prepared me for the Academy. From a very young age, I was brought up with a military-style upbringing. I am positive that my background will be beneficial to the Air Force Academy once I am accepted because of the discipline and order I have experienced as a child. In addition, I have been an athlete my entire life and plan on bringing my athletic abilities to the program. I have played baseball, basketball, football, and ran track my whole life. In particular, I will bring my track and field abilities to the academy to make our team better, which are my most developed. Lastly, from my community service efforts to my leader experience, I have proven that I can and will do what it takes to provide a positive example for those who look up to me such as my younger cousins and the youth in my neighborhood. I try to give them a positive role model through everything I do so that the celebrities on the television are not the only ones they see. Even once I become an officer in the military, I will not forget these skills and experiences because they made me who I am.
