Most Memorable Moment:
My most memorable memory takes place during the year 2008 when President Obama won the Election. It was on the eve of the elections and news stations were live giving the results. At the time I was the Chief of Staff for the Student Government Association. I was in the SGA office preparing last minute work for an up coming event and out of nowhere I heard the loudest outcry of students all over the campus of Claflin University and our neighboring HBCU South Carolina State University! It was as if the entire city of Orangeburg was crying out and rejoicing because we had just elected our first African American President of the United States of America. I left the office and went out into the student center and eventually out onto the plaza in front of the student center. At that time instead of rejoicing, I chose to LISTEN! IT WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SOUND. Listening to all of the happiness in the air. ALL AROUND, you could hear hundreds of people, students and natives of Orangeburg just thanking God and giving praise. It was my most proudest moment and most memorable moment of college, In the months and weeks leading up to the elections, myself and other fellow SGA members relentlessly went out to educate our students and others about the elections and its importance. At that moment nothing made me more happier to hear those cries and know that I took part in making history.
