About   (request update)
Growing up in the vibrant town of Marietta, Georgia which sits only 20 minutes outside of the bustling city of Atlanta, Georgia, I had a fortunate but interesting life. I am the daughter of Timothy Beckum, a now retired factory worker, and Jacqueline Payne, a family attorney. I come from a blended family, where my mother had two previous daughters before marrying my father, and my father had one previous daughter. Though my parents separated when I was 14 years of age, they have both been active in my life as they inspire me to keep becoming a positive role model, leader, and outstanding women. Though I have always been an intellectual woman, my battle with depression and anxiety took me off track my freshman year of high school, which caused my GPA to not reflect my actual intelligence and capability. Through my remaining years at Marietta High School, I vowed to prove to those that may have doubted me that I was strong and I could get out of the rut I was in. Though I did not graduate with honors, I still graduated with a 3.0 GPA and though Georgia Southern was far from my first choice, my financial situation chose this school for me. I always believe that God has a plan for us all and that though we may not be able to see it at the moment, it will all work out if we trust in him. I am happy I did when I made the choice to attend this university. Through my now three years here, I have made a positive impact on my campus and peers. I have been able to keep my GPA above a 3.0 for the last three semesters, I have joined on campus organizations that not only promote leadership and empowerment among our youth but also for college students, and I was able to participate in my first pageant ever and place in third place out of 11 other women. I truly am becoming the woman that I know my family inspired and pushed me to be. I've always been told that I can do whatever I put my mind to, and because of this my life and professional aspirations run high. I am currently working on a lifestyle blog which will be geared toward inspiring college-aged to mid-twenties woman to be true their wants and desires and pursue them.
Current Whereabouts:
I currently volunteer at the local Goodwill Job Connection here in Statesboro, Georgia where I help people who may not have the skill set to create a resume or cover letter for job positions create one. I also am currently working on starting my own lifestyle blog which will also feature some of my own original poetry.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
I plan on becoming a contracted attorney with corporate companies while also running my own event planning company. I plan on attending law school and hopefully obtaining a job within a corporate company which will give me the connections on clientele when it comes to my event planning. By the time I am 35 years old I aspire to be fully working for myself with a staff of at least 5 coordinators under me.
