Ada M. Babino is a producer, director and writer with over 25-years experience in video and film production, and event planning. She founded Jezebel Filmworks; a production company which was the impetus for producing personalized documentaries, including her her independently produced docu-drama on hair entitled Middle Passage -N- Root which aired on Showtime. This timeless film explores the diverse opinions, identity concerns, and styles of black hair.

Ms. Babino is the founder of Nommo Speaker's Bureau a booking agency that represents diverse inspirational speakers for engagements at educational institutions, corporations and non-profit organizations. Under the umbrella of Nommo is Blackfilmmakers.net; a website designed to connect independent filmmakers and fans worldwide, and expose audiences to movies, workshops, film programming and exhibition outlets. For three years, she programmed a film exhibition series entitled Griot Cinema which presented independent showcases in the heart of Washington, DC.

She has worked consistently in media through out the past twenty years. She formally worked as Line Producer for the highly acclaimed film, Sankofa, and publicist during its 1994-95 national limited commercial release. Ms. Babino worked as a Special Projects Producer at Black Entertainment Television’s cable jazz channel, BET On Jazz from 1997-2001. As a free-lance producer, she has produced an In The Spirit segment for HARPO Production’s Oprah Winfrey Show.

Babino's personal works include: a short video entitled "Eracism," "Anticipation," a video vignette, which aired on local cable channel DCTV, a documentary on her grandparents entitled, "I Don' Been Through The Snake's Skin & Come Out Clean." Ms. Babino is a triple recipient of the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities Grant-In-Aid award, the Pittsburgh Filmmakers Grant, and the National Black Programming Consortium Grant. She has served as a grant panelist for the DCCAH multi-discipline award, and the NBPC’s Prize Pieces Awards.

Utilizing her production and organizational skills, Ms. Babino was able to delve into the health care arena. She has worked for the Howard University Center for Urban Progress on an HIV/AIDS Faith Based Initiative and at the Howard University Student Health Center as Project Manager on a two year Centers for Disease and Prevention Control, (CDC) HIV Testing Initiative Demonstration Project, which was awarded to four HBCU’s. This project successfully provided free rapid Oraquick Advance HIV test to over 2500 students. In addition she has worked on an HIV/AIDS social marketing grant from the United Negro College Fund Special Projects Division.

A native from San Antonio, Texas, Ms. Babino received a degree in Broadcast Production from Howard University’s School of Communications and a Masters of Arts degree in Film from American University. She is the parent of one daughter.
